Auberon Pneumatic Exoskeleton or Auberon, is developed to help firefighters carry heavy firefighting equipment up multiple flights of stairs when lift systems in a high-rise building malfunction. These firefighting equipment can weigh up to 40 kilograms and pose considerable strain on firemen when they need to climb several storeys to reach a fire scene.
With Auberon, the firefighting equipment are slung across specially-designed frames which free up the fireman’s hands for use. Working as an assistive exoskeleton, Auberon helps to reduce muscle stress placed on the fireman, especially on the shoulders as the weight of the firefighting equipment passes through the exoskeleton and is transferred to the ground via the footplate. With the physical strain alleviated, it allows the fireman to focus on tackling the emergency situation more efficiently.
